AdAstra CFO was founded by Phil Coomes in 2025 after having spent nearly two decades in the professional world, and having the determination that he was able to create better value for his clients as a Fractional CFO.
Phil grew up in a small town in the Pacific Northwest, and enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17 to go after bigger opportunities and experiences in life. Phil’s service in the Marine Corps Embassy Security program took him around the world multiple times - serving in hybrid diplomatic & hostile areas. After his military service, Phil returned to attend university - found his knack for numbers & markets - and earned his first degree in Economics. Since then, he has carved out an ever-challenging career in finance & accounting, living abroad as an expat with a short detour earning his graduate degree at the UW Foster School of Business. He’s now “settled” proudly in Austin, Texas.
Phil is no stranger to hard work and overcoming challenges. He brings enthusiasm to his work, and an energy that is contagious to his clients. His experience in several industries & business models lends itself to his depth of knowledge and ability to see past immediate issues to come up with balanced, long-term solutions for his clients.
